"One day as I was driving with our two small children by the quaint Victorian house nestled amid the live oaks up on the hill, I told our young children, “That is going to be our restaurant one day.”

"You’d like The Colington Café to be a secret known only to you and a select few, but the word is out on this Kill Devil Hills restaurant. The menu, packed with fish like mahi, grouper, or tuna fresh off the boat in Wanchese, and produce from the Inner Banks, is an eye-opening take on Outer Banks seafood, often combining incredible ingredients with French-inspired methods. But it’s the atmosphere that separates The Colington Café from other seaside eateries. Servers know their menu, the wine list complements it, and the cozy rooms of this former home add a welcome intimacy to your dining experience." - Our State Magazine

Call for reservations after 3:00 pm

Come see what brings our customers back time and time again.  Not only is the ambiance unlike anything you will find elsewhere on the Outer Banks, it's what's on the menu that truly sets us apart.  From using the freshest products available from local purveyors, ranging from the morning’s freshest fish catch, (plump scallops right from the Wanchese fishing boats, Roanoke sound white shrimp, sweet crabmeat from Lake Matamaskeet) and local produce from the farms of Currituck. Our menu is one of the most extensive of any Outer Banks restaurant ranging from seafood, pastas, beef, and chicken dishes.

Chef Lane’s creativity surpasses expectations, serving specials such as jumbo-lump crabmeat atop tile fish with Tabasco-lemon butter and mixed grills featuring filet mignon with smoked Gouda cream sauce and yellowfin tuna with cucumber salad. For the more traditional palate, The Colington Café was voted as having the best crab cakes and she crab soup out of all Outer Banks restaurants. Our deserts are made from scratch, and our wine selection from sommelier Carlen is nothing less than impressive.

We strongly suggest reservations, which will add to your dining experience. Call after 3 pm to make yours. Advanced reservations can be made up to two weeks prior to your visit.
